Night Fury Plush by gaernavi Night Fury Plush by gaernavi
I decided to join the many others who fell in love with HTTYD and wanted to make a Toothless plushie since the commercial ones are lacking.

I used the wonderful pattern provided by Katy-A
[link]žion=&q=how+to+plush+your+#/d2ofxh0 with minor tweaks because I used a one-sided fabric. The body is microsuede, with pleather claws, stuffed with polyfill and plastic beans to make him stand. The eyes are cast from resin, painted with iridescent and glow-in-the dark paints.

This is one of the more complex plushies I have made and I am very happy with the result. Many thanks to Katy-A!

Would you be willing to make one for me? I'm going through a rough time with my parents divorcing and moving into a new house. My dad is moving away so I probably wont be able to see him that often. This is my favorite movie ever!! And it's so adorable!! You did I great job!! You can contact me at kaylee.haas@yahoo.com

Hello Kaylee,

I am sorry to say that I do not make these for other people...The amount of time it takes is simply too long and I have too much going on in my life at the moment.  My deep sympathies for you and your family, as I bet things feel like they are being turned upside-down.  If you want this plushie, a good way to get it might be to make one yourself.  It takes a while, but the pattern is a great one here on DA and might give you something else to think about for a while.  Plus you can feel very accomplished when you are done.  In the meantime I would suggest seeing your father as much as you can.  I am sorry if I have overstepped my bounds, and best of luck to you.

how did you do his claws? in Katy-A's pattern, it says to only cut 4, but yours look like you cut 8 and stuffed them...
Oh and another thing-- did you use a sewing machine or did you do it all by hand?

That was something I did a little differently.  I made each claw individually (two pieces of fabric stitched together and stuffed)...so I guess it was 32 pieces (2x4x4)?  I used a sewing machine for as much as I could, but had to do hand sewing for the details (head, toes).

okay, thanks! I might do that as well, because the one I am making is going to be quite large. I might also do that with the spikes.

I would recommend it...I used a one-sided fabric, and so it was the only way it was going to look ok.  It does take more work, but looks better.  I wish you the best with it!

Thanks for the advise and luck! I will definitely try that for the claws and the spikes!
